For those of you Londoners who expressed your sadness at missing our live band return gig in Colchester, fear not, we will be performing with the band again on the 25th February in Camden Town. Dunno what time time we’ll be on but come down to Camden Rock, 18 Kentish Town Rd to shake a leg with your friendly neighborhood DefDFires…

Friday the 10th saw us smashing out our first gig with the band in sometime, heading out to Colchester to play Skank Sabbath: The Age Of Aquarius. The event was to celebrate the birthday of our boy Rev Will Wright (the director of The Palace video). Safe to say the show was a success, along with stellar performances from Greg Blackman and Seeds-One MCing for the Rev’s set which had us shacking until we could shack no more.

Many thanks to all involved and watch this space for future Skank Sabbath events.

A few of you have got in touch recently asking where you can buy the lovely new DDF tees that we’ve been rocking in all our new photos/at gigs etc. It gives us great pleasure to announce that the T-Shirts are available from the Emerging Species store, or you can buy them directly from the DDF bandcamp page and you’ll get a free download of Operation: Zombie Nation too! Gotta give a shout to the good folks over at THTC for helping us out with printing, and as usual with THTC products you can expect the garms to be of high quality. December saw the release of the Modern Warfare EP from our brothers in arms Screaming Soul. The EP contains various remixes of their classic track Warfare, including a mix from DDF’s very own Bill Daggs, featuring verses from himself as well as Uncle Jazza alongside the Screaming Soul mandem. Keeping the DefDFires presence strong on the release there is also a banging Electro remix from Key Skills (of O:ZN fame) and our boy JJ Mumbles of WotNot Music has got a couple banging mixes on there too.

Operation: Zombie Nation, our second LP, was revealed to the world on 24/10/11 via Emerging Species. In the wake of the album dropping we thought we’d give you a whistle stop tour of the promotional campaign behind the release. Aside from the usual run of promo videos, singles, photo-shoots etc, we wanted go a step further and try and make the experience as immersive as possible – it seemed only right when dealing with a concept album.

The heart of the campaign is o-zn.com, a site dedicated to the world we created around the album, this acted as a central hub for all the various promotional mediums we employed (as well as our ‘only means of communication’ whilst we were trapped in the depths of The Cabin). If you want to fully explore the process of the campaign that’s the best place to look (start from the oldest post if you really wanna nerd out), in the meantime the next few posts will briefly cover some of the ideas and techniques that were used.
